Taylor Bolam was directly approached by a major industrial services company based in the South West to recruit a Head of Procurement reporting directly into the Finance Director. This was their first appointment within procurement after initially engaging with external consultants in scoping the procurement landscape.
Key requirement of the role was identifying an experienced procurement professional who could lead a team but be hands on in delivering cost savings in key areas of spend such as contract labour, hazardous materials etc. The role was also located in a remote area of England which further restricted the candidate pool.
Our team focused on delivering a 3 candidate shortlist within 1 week. Through our internal network and referral route we identified 3 highly experienced procurement professionals who had required experience and were located in accessible distance from the head office. In week 2, interviews were conducted by the external consultants with 1 candidate recommended for final meeting with the Finance Director and Managing Director. At the end of week 3, the candidate was offered and accepted the role.
This assignment highlighted the team work and speed and also proved even when there are difficult requirements to identify suitable candidates, the team at Taylor Bolam has the extensive network to find the right candidate.
